Shukti is currently studying at Azim Premji University in Bangalore, and has been in the social sector and participated in advocacy related youth activities since 2019. She is a passionate youth advocate on issues of adolescent mental health and SRHR and is affiliated with a nationwide autonomous youth network on adolescent health advocacy called STEPS (Stepping Towards Enhancing Policy Structures), by The YP Foundation, of which she is the current national lead.
She also participated in the United Nations General Assembly event called the Accountability Breakfast, where she was the youngest speaker present, moderated by the honorable ex President of New Zealand, Helen Clark, and many other dignitaries from across the world, in 2020. She also designed and led an engagement on the National Education Policy which comprised of a) facilitating a group discussion with diverse school students; b) moderating a multi-stakeholder webinar including ministry officials, CSOs and school students; c) authoring an article analyzing the policy from a students' perspective during the pandemic.
She has also interviewed the Union Health Secretary, Mr. Rajesh Bhushan and was featured in PMNCH’s video in the Lives In Balance Global Summit that highlighted the role of a few countries' responsibilities towards women and children’s health. She has also participated in the Generation Equality Forum Paris, which was conducted online during July, 2021. She also participated in the ECOSOC Youth Forum side-event, in 2022, where she spoke as a panelist, highlighting some key-findings from the report framed by various countries on how Meaningful Youth Engagement can be better accessible, as well as the funding and intersectionality lens of it. She is the current young person co-chair of the ASRHR IAWG Sub-working group. She is also an adolescent champion associated with the Global Coordination Committee by PMNCH.
