Harshita Umesh is a medical student, an aspiring plastic surgeon and a research enthusiast. In her free time, she is a public health trainer, mental health, climate change and sexual and reproductive health rights advocate.

She was trained by the Indian Safe Abortion Youth Advocates and Asian Safe Abortion Partnership in advocacy for Abortion and other SRHR issues. She has also taken numerous psychology courses with the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Healthcare.

Over the past couple years, she has worked with numerous organizations to promote menstrual health and hygiene among school-going children and adolescents and reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation. She is also conducting a pan-India research project to assess the same. She has trained numerous healthcare students in making hospital visits more LGBTQ+ friendly. Her dream is to one day see a world free of gender-based violence.
